When July heat settles in and we start reaching for something crisp and refreshing, one wine almost always rises to the top: Sauvignon Blanc.
But what makes it a perfect summer wine?
It’s not just that it’s served cold. It’s not just that it’s light.
It’s science …. and style.
Sauvignon Blanc is naturally:
- High in acidity: mouthwatering and refreshing
- Aromatic: bursting with citrus, herbs, and tropical fruit
- Typically unoaked: clean, vibrant, and zippy
Think about that first sip: lime, grapefruit, maybe a hint of fresh-cut grass or herbs. That brightness cuts through heat, humidity, and even rich summer foods.
But here’s the twist…
Not all Sauvignon Blanc tastes the same.
From the steely, mineral-driven wines of France to the bold, tropical expressions of New Zealand, Sauvignon Blanc is one of the most expressive grapes in the world.
And that’s exactly what we’ll explore at next month’s Wilmington Wine Circle.
July Wine Circle
At our July Wine Circle, we will travel the world through the refreshing and inspiring Sauvignon Blanc—one glass at a time. Join us on Thursday, July 9, from 6:00-7:30 pm at a Wilmington location TBD.
The first Thursday of each month (well, this month it’s the second Thursday), up to 8 people get together to enjoy each other’s company as we taste wine focused on a particular varietal, wine style or wine region. There’s no fee to participate in these gatherings. Each month is hosted by a different person who is only responsible for providing glasses and a festive tasting atmosphere. Each participant brings a bottle of wine and a paired snack to share that fits the month’s theme.
